I have been a trained nurse until my retirement from the NHS 9 years ago. Since leaving the nursing profession I worked as a Befriending Coordinator for Age UK and then as a Group Coordinator with the Alzheimers Society.
I have also held volunteering positions with the charity Carers Together and the Alzheimers Society.
I have personal experience with dementia as my father has had Alzheimers Disease for the past 7 years and so I have cared for people with dementia on a professional and personal level.
I am honoured to be the chairman of Avon Valley Dementia Support and we have a wonderful team of volunteers to help and support people living with dementia, their Carers and families. From personal experience I know the dementia journey is not always an easy one and we are here for everyone in good times and bad.
